This is a pretty powerful little camera for its tininess. It’s almost spy-worthy, except for how whimsical it seems. I have been playing with it a little, and so far I am liking the results. At first, I was a bit confused as to how I was supposed to know what I was filming, because there is no lens to peer through, no view finder, no nothing, really, except one “big” button and a tiny wifi button.
I went to the Polaroid Facebook page and found that if you download the app, you suddenly increase the user-friendly-ness of the little camera by, like, ten-fold. With the app & wifi on, your smartphone becomes your viewfinder, and you can do a whole lot more with the thing.
It also has a pretty good battery life at almost an hour and a half. I haven’t filmed more than 45 minutes in one day, so I haven’t run up against that wall.
There are also a lot of accessories that I don’t have, but the camera came with an 8GB micro SD and a lanyard & bumpercase, and a really short USB cable for dumping stuff onto and charging off of a desktop. The camera has a magnet at the base, so you can mount it accessory-free onto anything metal/magnetic.
I filmed a few grooming & tacking up sessions and a few rides … the picture quality is high up to 1440p, although placing the camera somewhere worthwhile for the rides proves more difficult than setting it up to film grooming and tacking up. Like, uh, filming into the sun was kind of dumb on my part.
