I’ve posted about this before, but I like looking back periodically to see how rewarding it is to make a difference in a shelter dog’s life. I adopted Conrad in January 2011, and this is what he looked like around that time:
He weighed a little over 9 lbs, estimated to be a year old. He had been found wandering the streets of Pflugerville, and spent about a month with fosters, and then, while I was looking at large breeds, I saw his picture on a shelter’s website and paid his adoption fee over the phone immediately.
This is how he looks now, after over five years:
He weighs 17 lbs. He has a warm bed at night (that he lets me sleep in). He gets to eat twice a day and enjoys treats and toys. It’s pretty simple, right? But Conrad is one of the lucky ones.
that’s definitely quite the transformation – beyond just size, his entire expression has relaxed and softened. he’s one lucky pup!!

Bonus – he has the best warddrobe out of any shelter dog I’ve ever known… and this is coming from someone who had multiple outfits custom made for her rescued Boston Terrier ๐
