I left my thermos of coffee on the kitchen counter. Work day fail. I mean, I just bought coffee and everything, but it is not the same.
In better news, I actually got to ride my horse four days in a row! Rain drenched everything again overnight on Saturday, but I’m kind of hoping one of the arenas is dry enough for a little more flat work tonight.
Eli steadily progressed through the rides. Wednesday was very much a test ride just to feel him out a bit. He reminded me that, oh yes, I did indeed buy the right horse. Thursday the Psychotic Moose Capriole Show returned, but I can’t blame him. There were barking and snarling dogs, it was our first ride under the lights for the season, and also live Tejano music playing. I mostly just walked him and tried to convince him that none of these things were hazardous to his health. Friday we worked at walk and trot, and he had a brain in his head again. Saturday, we worked at the walk, trot, and canter, and he tried to play at the canter and he had so much energy the gait was somewhat difficult to moderate but he felt fantastic and gave me his big floaty hunter hack trot, too.
Here’s a clip of him marching by the crazy-painted skinny and giving zero effs:
If I get a few rides in this week, we may start jumping by the end of the week.
I hate the weather forecast.
