If you remain unconvinced that If the Bonnet Fits is a good source for custom bonnets, allow me to
slap you change your mind.
If the Bonnet Fits now has mercerized cotton available, and all kinds of customization options, including new and improved crystals. I had ordered a tapered, mercerized cotton bonnet with this gorgeous dark green cording (the color is called jasper) with 7″ ears and open stitch … and when I saw Henry’s new bonnet I knew I would be pleased with the results, in particular the new tapered design.
And THEN I saw on Instagram that If the Bonnet Fits had some ready-made bonnets, some made from the mercerized cotton in the tapered design. The grey one with red accents spoke to me. I had to have it. (And now I need a matching saddle pad.)
Fast-forward to yesterday, and I received the bonnets. I tried the gray one on Eli yesterday, and I’ll be trying the black one on Eli today.
The quality you get for the price astounds me. These bonnets could easily be priced over $100, but they’re basically half that!
The gray bonnet fits Eli extremely well. (He has also been enjoying life in his hunter bridle right now. I’m just going to go with it.)
The cotton especially works well in the Texas heat. Summer Eli stays comfortable with his thinking cap on. The custom route from If the Bonnet Fits is well worth the wait!
Pretty!! I’m definitely going to check them out, I’d love to get something more custom.

I’ve never used a bonnet- we don’t have that many bugs and my horse seems to be deaf given how often he spooks at noise- but all these posts about bonnets has me coveting one… or five.

I’ve just started reading your blog – man, your horse is cute. Love both those bonnets, but I really want to know the brand of your beautiful hunter bridle!

Welcome, and thank you!! The bridle is Pessoa’s Rodrigo Fancy Stitched Wide Noseband Bridle. I LOVE it.

He looks great! I may have to check them out, since apparently Roger has extra tiny TB ears and the custom options would be helpful. Both bonnets (SmartPak and Pessoa) I’ve tried on him are far too big

You and Amanda have totally convinced me. I’ve been looking all over for custom bonnets that aren’t crazy expensive or look shoddy. So excited to order one.

I can’t believe I didn’t comment when you posted this originally. These are amazing.
Cosmo’s lease girl wants to buy him/us a bonnet as a late Christmas gift. So sweet. So perfect. I can finally order one!
My question to you is, 7″ ears, is that large? I have no idea how big Cosmo’s ears are.

I think 7″ is medium to large, like a big wb might need 7.5″? It’s the length of the ear from base to tip with some wiggle room.

Hmm, I’ll have to measure tomorrow. Cosmo does not have small ears, but I don’t know if their large.
