Hope everyone had a fun 4th! I got lucky enough to have a long weekend, a lot of which I spent either eating or at the barn or both.
I got two lessons on Eli, one on Friday and one on Saturday. Friday, Eli didn’t really concentrate and I can’t just will him to concentrate, but we managed to finally get through the exercise we were working on in a somewhat organized and correct fashion.
Saturday was MUCH better. Eli was really, really good and giving great jumping efforts through a different exercise.
Saturday was also the barn 4th of July party. Lots of food and fireworks! Those barn dads just love to play with pyrotechnics. The teenagers even had a little Roman candle fight–there’s just no way around it, although I am officially old enough to skip out of it.
Sunday I hacked Eli pretty lightly but with a spur, as he’s been a bit lazy about moving off my leg. One poke startled him and he didn’t have any issue with moving off my leg after that.
I’m going to try to get a lesson scheduled for Tuesday, taking advantage of some dry weather finally!
….are those tan knee-patch breeches I spy in that picture? LOVE. Long weekend at the barn sounds absolutely perfect!
