I had meant to go ride Tuesday and not tonight, because Wednesday nights seem to be the busiest at the barn and I’d rather just not.
But Tuesday was weirdly chilly and I packed the wrong barn clothes for chilly.
And Tuesday around 2 pm a major wreck happened–a dump truck and a rig carrying a mobile home collided. The vehicles went up in flames, and thus a major artery of commerce in America was shut down. All lanes. Both sides. FOR HOURS. Guess which major artery of commerce in America I get to drive on to get to the barn? Sure, the tolls were waved on toll roads, but traffic all over was still a Gordian knot of cluster eff at 6 pm so I gave up and skipped the barn. Got some laundry done and ate a hot dinner.
So maybe I’ll just drag my pants while tacking up tonight and try to ride late after the lessons are mostly finished up.
I’m so glad I don’t usually have to navigate 35 in my daily life. I did skip out on the barn though, because I also brought summer riding clothes. Silly me… it’s almost May after all.
